Proud Mommy Moments

Today, the school sent home the report card for the first quarter of school year and I'm very proud to say that Patrick brought home his card with flying colors and not C's and D's in sight.

Grading system:
A- to A+ : The student has demonstrated the required knowledge and skills. Achievement exceeds the provincial standard. (Level4)
B- to B+ : The student has demonsrated most of the required knowledge and skills. Achievement meets the provincial standard. (Level 3)
C- to C+ : The student has demonstrated some of the required knowledge and skills. Achievement approaches the provincial standard. (Level2)
D- to D+ : The student has demonstrated some of the required knowledge and skills in limited ways. Achievement falls much below the provincial standard. (Level 1)

Before anything else, let me just give a glimpse of what kind of student he is. Patrick is really a good boy when it comes to school, eversince, he never gave me a hard time to wake him up in the morning, all I need to do is to call his name once and he'll be up and headed to the bathroom. When he get home from school, he will pull out his reading folder and start doing his homework with a little or most of the time less reminder from us. We don't do the "review the lesson" thing just like the other moms do with their school kids because I thought, there's a time and place for everything,I sent him to school so he can learn something so it means when he gets home,he can be on his own again and enjoy his life as a boy, I don't want him to end up hating the school just because it hinder him to enjoy life but of course there's an exception sometimes especially if there's an unpleasant notes from the teacher which academically speaking, we never get one but about his behavior (running and playing around the classroom that distract the other student) , I can't say the same, yeah, we got one a month ago, what do I do, he's a boy, but Thank God because after talking to him about the "notes" the teacher sent us another one after one week informing us how much he change , but other than that we just let him play with his friends. A week ago, he took home a Math exam with an A+ grade and we've never been prouder and he did it on his own, no review or whatsoever. I wasn't even aware that there's an exam until he brought his papers for my signature. We think that we have to keep it that way, if the system works, no need to mess with it.

Anywho, this is truly an early christmas present for me, he can't afford to give me a diamond (yet )but this one worth more than all the diamonds in the world that I will treasure forever.
