Holiday Break Activity

----Every month, Kendrick brought home a news letter from his teacher. It's about what they learned from the previous month and the upcoming subject matter for the next. This year's news letter include some learning tips that we can do while they are on holiday break. They have two weeks vacation and I thought maybe it's a good idea to post it and hopefully some of you may find it useful.

A Idea A Day To Promote Oral language & Early Literacy.

• December is a new month,clap the syllables you hear. De/cem/ber.
• Read everyday. Established a routine that includes reading together!
• Ask them about the weather?What they notice and why is it changing.
• Toy room treasure hunt. Find a toy that start with specific letter,example letter D.
• Name three things you can do in the snow!
• Have your child write and mail a letter.
• New places and new experiences are important, go on a learning trip like library,grocery,hospital.
• Always have crayons and markers ready and practice straight/curvy/slanted lines.
• Name 5 colours,which one is your favorite.
• Read your favorite book and change the ending.
• Watch tv WITH your child,talk about what's happening and ask them some questions.

I'm so happy to say that with or without this newsletter, all the activity mentioned above is already a part of my daily routine with Kendrick when he is not in school. Now I'm off to check a website of a cross country moving companies just in case we decided of going back to US which I'm not really excited about but possible.
