PBW#8: Operation:Christmas Child

We are kinda busy ourselves this weekend preparing for the shoeboxes for school. The boys' school is having a donation drive called "Operation Christmas Child" in cooperation of Samaritan's Purse Organization. Each student have to donate a shoebox filled with school supplies to send to kids in needy country. But before that, in school, they spent a day watching videos about how kids in other country live their everyday life, since that day Kendrick always reminds me of his shoebox, to buy some stuff so he can send it to other kids, so they can go to school. I'm so very proud with my boys. They have a heart full of compassion to those who are underpriviledge kids. I am so thankful to God that my boys are living a life that they should be, a kind of life that I as a child was dreaming of. I'm glad that my boys know how to appreciate it and they are so willing to share their blessings. We are not rich but whenever there's a chance like this for them to help, I make sure that they can give something just for them to realized that inspite of everything, we are still more blessed than others. That we are in our situation right now for a reason.By the way, here's their shoebox,

The school gave us a flyers of what we can and cannot put in a box, they also give us a label to put on it. My boys include some of their toys and books from their own stuff aside from the supplies that we bought. I wasn't able to buy a box of crayons and Kendrick said he will just give his instead.
While putting everything in a box, there are so many things that comes to my mind. I picture happy kid with a big smile on his face once he open his shoe box. I bet he will be very happy as if he won the lottery and will be so grateful. And the thought hit me. There are so many times that I as a person keep complaining of what I don't have instead of being so Thankful and Grateful with what I have. I wish for whoever got any of my boys' shoebox, all I want is for him to give me a heart like his. :D

Wow, feeling nostalgic tuloy ako. We used to do this as well back in Philippines when i was in grade school (P.Gomez Elem School, i remember feeling excited as i fill my box with different items to donate.

I think its a good effort on the school's part to teach kids about giving. Hats off to them and to you too mommy.

My PBW is up too.
